A beach destination is great, there’s no denying that. But sometimes, you just want something a little different. Check out these alternatives to a beach vacation for your next trip.
Safari
A safari is one of the ultimate wildlife-focused trips and is truly the adventure of a lifetime. Hop in a 4×4 for a game drive (during the day or at night!) and try and spot the “big five” – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos. Enrich your trip by immersing yourself in cultural experiences – getting to know the local people, customs, and food. Some destinations offer unique wildlife research or lecture opportunities for those looking to further their knowledge.
Ranch
Whether a working dude ranch or a luxury ranch resort, there’s nothing like an escape to the rugged and scenic western U.S. Saddle up for a range of activities including horseback riding, hikes through the mountains, white water rafting, cookouts and campfires, fishing, western dancing, and more.
Food and wine tour
Vacations should be all about indulging, and what better way to do that than with a food and wine tour? Cook alongside a master chef, sip wine as you stroll through the vineyard where the grapes were grown, or visit the farm where your morning eggs came from. Through local food and drinks, you can get a real feel of a destination and its culture.
National Park
Get in touch with your adventurous side with a visit to one of our National Parks. From Yosemite to Acadia, there are over 60 parks to choose from, each with its own landscapes and unique features to offer. Enjoy stunning views and photo opportunities while you hike, canoe, bird watch, fish, and more. Pitch a tent, stay at a luxury lodge, or maybe do a mix of both.
Ski Lodge
For the very opposite of a beach vacation, why not hit the slopes? After a day spent skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing, cozy up in a luxury lodge by the fire with a blanket and a hot cocoa. Ski towns are known to be charming (think mountain views, local shops, and delicious restaurants), so be sure to leave plenty of time to explore.
