Once the Christmas movies are over, the gifts are unwrapped, and you’ve eaten all the cookies you can possibly stomach, it’s time to start looking towards 2022. Are you an avid traveler? Or, would you like to be? Consider some travel-related New Year’s resolutions!
We promise they’re a little easier (and a lot more fun) to stick to than starting a new diet or quitting a bad habit. Read on for some of our top travel resolutions for 2022.
This one is easy. Maybe you haven’t really traveled since before the pandemic. In that case, it’s perfectly okay if your resolution is just simply to travel…anywhere! Road trip, weekend trip, or full-on vacation, now is the time to get back into the swing of it.
Take a solo trip
There’s nothing quite as liberating as traveling alone–go where you want to go, do what you want to do, eat what you want to eat! If you’re often traveling with a big group of family or friends, maybe 2022 is your year to try a solo trip to a destination you’ve always wanted to check out. Ready to plan? Take a look at the best cities for solo travel and our tips to staying safe while traveling alone.
Learn a new language
Okay, so it’s not traveling necessarily, but learning a new language can be very useful when traveling! It’s much easier to get around and enjoy a trip when you can understand and say basic phrases in the local language. Maybe you have a destination in mind but have always been intimidated by the language barrier. Now is the perfect time to download an app or sign up for a class!
Use your breaks wisely
Perhaps you have kids on a school schedule or you get a couple days off of work here and there. Instead of deciding what to do on the day of, plan ahead and use your breaks wisely. Your kids have a four-day weekend? Travel! Spring break? Travel! Your company closes around the holidays? Travel! Even a few quick trips throughout the year will make all the difference.
Get TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry
We know how easy it is to put off getting TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry. But once you do it, we promise you’ll wonder why you waited so long! Skip lines, save time, and enjoy an overall more comfortable travel experience.
Document your travels in a new way
If you’re an avid traveler, consider keeping track of your adventures in a new way. Keep a travel log in a journal, take disposable cameras with you on your trips, record voice memos on your phone, scrapbook–the possibilities are endless! At the end of the year, you’ll have all sorts of travel memories documented that you can look back on.
Save up for THAT trip
You know the one. The end-all-be-all. The ultimate. The bucket list trip. You may not be able to take it this year, but at least make it a priority to actively save for it. It will feel so good when you finally get to book those tickets!
