2019 Sporting Events in the US

Super Bowl

Date: February 3, 2019
Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Super Bowl LIII will be played at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be the first Super Bowl hosted by the stadium, which recently opened in 2017, and the third played in Atlanta. Though it’s yet to be determined which teams will be playing, fans can expect an exciting game in a bustling city. It hasn’t been officially announced by the NFL or the band but many major publications have reported that Maroon 5 will be headlining this year’s halftime show.

Daytona 500

Date: February 17, 2019
Location: Daytona, Florida

Held annually at Daytona Motor Speedway, the Daytona 500 is the most prestigious NASCAR race of the year. Often a sold-out event, 2019 marks the race’s 61st year. “The Great American Race” is always held in mid-late February and serves as the final event of Speedweeks, a series of racing events that take place in January and February.

NCAA Final Four, Championship Game

Date: April 6-8, 2019
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Everyone’s favorite: March Madness! The Final Four and championships games of the NCAA D1 Men’s Basketball National Championship tournament will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Between games, fans can check out the Mall of America or the many well-known restaurants or breweries the Twin Cities’ have to offer.

The Masters

Date: April 11-14, 2019
Location: Augusta, Georgia

The Masters professional golf tournament is known as “a tradition unlike any other.” Held since 1934, The Masters takes place over four days and 72 holes at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Fans can watch Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler among other world-renowned golfers compete for the coveted green jacket awarded to the winner of the annual tournament.

Kentucky Derby

Date: May 2, 2019
Location: Louisville, Kentucky

“America’s Greatest Race,” or the Kentucky Derby, is the most anticipated event in horse racing each year and has been held at Churchill Downs annually since 1875. From the Garland of Roses presented to the winner to the Mint Juleps sipped by race goers, it’s a tradition-packed event attended by over 150,000 people and watched by millions.

Stanley Cup Finals

Date: June 2019

The Stanley Cup Finals are held each year in early-June, wrapping up the NHL’s season. Fans are sure to enjoy a rowdy series of up to seven games as the two conference champions compete for one of the most famous sports trophies in the world.

NBA Finals

Date: June 2019
Location: TBD

The NBA season concludes in June after two months of playoff games. Whether this year’s games are held in Toronto, San Francisco, Houston or somewhere else, attendees can expect a fast-paced series and entertaining fan parties and concerts in the host cities.

MLB All-Star Game

Date: July 9, 2019
Location: Cleveland, Ohio

This year’s MLB All-Star game is located in our hometown of Cleveland, Ohio at Progressive Field. The game is held annually and is played between the All-Stars from the American League and the National League chosen by fans and managers. Always played in mid-late July, the All-Star game marks the halfway point in the MLB season.

Summer X Games

Date: August 1-4, 2019
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Summer X Games is an extreme sports event featuring the world’s top Moto X, BMX and Skateboard athletes, musical performances and an interactive festival village. This year’s games will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota at U.S. Bank Stadium.

US Open

Date: August 26-September 8, 2019
Location: New York City, New York

The US Open is a two-week tennis tournament held in New York City consisting of five championships (mens singles, womens singles, mens doubles, womens doubles and mixed doubles) as well as various other events. Since 1978, the tournament has taken place at USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens and for over 30 years, has been the fourth “Grand Slam” tournament of the year.

World Series

Date: October 2019
Location: TBD

Set to begin on October 22, 2019, the World Series, the best-of-seven MLB championship series, draws baseball fans from all over the nation. A matchup between the winners of the American and National league championships, attendees can enjoy fall baseball by cheering on their team in a fan-filled stadium.
